Better relationships, better life.
Hi! I’m Amy McFarling. Certified Somatic Sex Educator, Relational Life Therapy (RLT) Coach, and Counselor-in-training.
I am in service of better relationships with ourselves and others.
Welcome!
About Me
I spent the first 20 years of my career in boardrooms around the world. Armed with an MBA and a fascination for what makes people tick, I helped top brands create great relationships with their customers. Corporate life was very good to me, but there was one not-so-small problem: my relationships suffered.
In 2013, burned out from climbing the corporate ladder, I put my stilettos in storage and took what was intended to be a short break. But I got a little side-tracked...
From intense encounter groups to obscure Indian gurus, from tantra trainings in Brazil to Ayahuasca ceremonies in the Colombian jungle, I dove headfirst into the world of personal transformation, hardly surfacing for air! I left no stone unturned in discovering who I was and what I really wanted. And it turns out that great relationships were the missing piece in my otherwise privileged life.
So I deconstructed the basic ingredients of relational health: self-worth, good boundaries, authenticity, intimacy, mutual respect, negotiation, the ability to sit with discomfort, repair, and more. I studied with the best teachers and honed my version of wholeness. It was a grueling and exhilarating journey to the depths of the Underworld and back.
When I felt “cooked” (and qualified), I resurfaced in Boulder, CO, and hung up my new shingle: Sex & Relationship Coach. Since then, I’ve been helping clients feel at home in their own skin and create better relationships with themselves and the people in their lives. Still my original passion, just a different audience and a much more personal engagement.
Rest assured - I walk my talk! I use my tools in my marriage, family, and all my relationships. Relational health is a choice and a practice I am 100% committed to.
How I Work
I help people relate consciously. I help them relate "on purpose." I help them relate from the space of their own highest integrity.
My ethos is pretty simple: you know yourself best. And, often, you're just a little too close to be able to see clearly. I provide perspective, guidance, and experiential tools for navigating the difficult terrain of human connection. I also provide a safe, non-judgmental container. During sessions, you’ll have my undivided attention, presence, and support.
I don’t have an agenda for you, and it’s true to say that there are some things I want for all of my clients: it’s my hope that you'll have a more intimate understanding of yourself than before we started working together, an expanded capacity to love yourself fully and experience life’s pleasures, and the courage to not have to omit parts of yourself when relating with others.
Basically, I want you to feel more at home in your own skin, and from that place be able to engage in authentic intimacy with others, should you choose that for yourself.
I'm good at what I do because it’s my passion and my life’s work. I’ve worked hard to integrate solid relational tools. And I’ll tell you the truth with the love and compassion only a fellow traveler on the journey can offer. I’ve been where you are, seeking the things you’re seeking. Sometimes the process is fun, sometimes it's daunting, and in my experience things usually get messier before they get better. But they do get better, and that makes it all worth it.
